Chords for a minor Blues, key of Am.

Am for 4 bars

Dm for 2 bars

Am for 2 bars

Em, Dm, Am. E7 one bar each. Then repeat the whole sequence.

For the Am, you could use the first 4 chord grids, then move to Dm7 for the Dm (next set of four chords)

A lot of good things can result from moving a chord shape up the neck on guitar. It's always good to experiment with this when you learn a new shape. The chart above gives some examples of this. The first 4 chords are a progression in the key of Am - with the pentatonic scale for Am shown you can solo over the chords, or integrate chords and solo lines. Playing the octaves -lean your first finger over the open 4th string to mute it, and then you can strum the notes.

Another of my all-time favourite tricks is to use open strings in chords rather than the full barre chord shape. All of this material for the key of E will work together. In this key the major chords I IV and V are:

E, A, B. You may use the minor chords too, but these are the most important.
