Power chords or 5 chords are constructed with just two different notes, the root and the fifth. You can use the two-note version or the three-note version, which is generally better as it has a fuller sound. Using these chords with amp distortion and palm muting will give you a great rock, metal or grunge sound, for everything from The Kinks to Van Halen and Nirvana.
